Toyota Seeks Visions For The Car of Your Dreams

Hero
West Australian 12-year-old Georgia Fields won the Australian round of the 2018 Toyota Dream Car Art Contest with her "Cultural Understanding Car".

Toyota Australia is calling on budding, young artists to let their imaginations run wild and draw or paint their own imaginary car as part of the 2019 Dream Car Art Contest.

Entries are now open for the Australian round of the global Toyota contest with submissions closing March 1, 2019.

The annual contest, now in its 13th year, calls on artists in three age categories - under 8 years, 8-11 years, and 12-15 years - to create their vision of a car for the future with the chance to win a four-day trip to Japan to attend a global awards ceremony.

Toyota Australia chief marketing officer Wayne Gabriel said the Dream Car Art Contest always attracted an amazing range of drawings and paintings by talented youngsters whose concepts often addressed global issues.

"The contest provides Toyota with an extraordinary glimpse into the issues that concern young people and it's fascinating to see how they use their imagination to address those issues through mobility solutions," Mr Gabriel said.

"For Toyota, addressing future mobility is driving our development and it's so heartening to see what ideas emanate from the engineers, designers, artists and developers of the future.

"It's also fantastic to see an enormous diversity of talented and promising artists produce such colourful and imaginative artworks," he said.

Last year's Australian winner, 12-year-old Georgia Fields from Western Australia, created the "Cultural Understanding Car" which was chosen from over 4000 local entries.

Georgia's artwork aimed to address global conflict by creating greater cultural understanding between people and so impressed the judges that it also earned her a place in the global top 30 entries from more 650,000 submitted in 76 countries - and a trip to Japan.

To enter the contest, all artworks need to be original hand-drawn or painted works and the top three Australian entries in each age category will also win a $500 Apple Store gift card.
